BUREO is on a mission to end fishing net pollution to help protect our ocean — 3.2 million pounds of discarded fishing nets collected to date. The brand creates skateboards, sunglasses and other goods using recycled materials.
Discarded fishing nets are collected from coastal communities in South America. Then the nets are cleaned, separated by material type and organized for transport. After this the recycling process gets started: the repared materials are shredded and melted into NetPlus® recycled pellets, which is what are used to create BUREO’s products.
Furthermore, the brand partners with nonprofits, schools and companies for educational events, presentations, and beach cleanups.
